Dr. Annabel Fountain

Medical Director/Endocronologist

Dr Annabel Fountain is a Bermudian physician who is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Internal Medicine.  She returned to Bermuda in 2010 and worked for the Bermuda Hospitals Board where she was the Director of Endocrinology until November 2017.

In 2016, Dr Fountain was appointed President of the Bermuda Medical Doctors Association.  Dr Fountain works closely with the Bermuda Diabetes Association, the Department of Health and has recently been appointed to the Board of the Bermuda Health Council.  She was integral in planning and executing the STEPS survey to determine the prevalence of diabetes and chronic disease in Bermuda.  As President of the Bermuda Medical Doctors Association her priorities are particularly focused on reducing costs and improving quality of health care in Bermuda.

Dr. Fountain specializes in inpatients and outpatients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and has experience in the use of a wide variety of treatments for type 2 diabetes.  She is interested in the use of newer pharmacological agents and technologies for management of this disorder. Lifestyle management and treatments for overweight are a key part of her recommendations. Dr Fountain is particularly interested in the treatment of Diabetic Foot disease, Diabetes in Pregnancy and use of medications to ameliorate progression of Nephropathy (diabetic kidney disease) and Retinopathy (diabetic eye disease). 

 

Dr Fountain offers the following Endocrinology services:

  • Diabetes Prevention, Education and Management

  • Thyroid Disease – Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Nodules and Cancer

  • Obesity and Weight management

  • Disorders of Calcium and Bone including Osteoporosis

  • Hypertension and Cholesterol disorders

  • Adrenal and Pituitary Disease

  • Infertility and Menopause

  • Other glandular disorders

 

Dr Fountain has close affiliations with overseas Medical Centres such as The Lahey Hospital Medical Centre, Massachussetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, amongst others. She also maintains relationships with her colleagues and mentors in the UK.

 

Dr Fountain’s medical practice, incorporated as Fountain Medical Group Ltd.(“FMGL”) or Fountain Health, offers the Gold Standards of Evidence-Based Care based on International Guidelines for Endocrinology and Diabetes Management, Care and Education. She is committed to providing services that will exceed the expectations of her patients.

Renee Richardson

Practice Manager

With over 20 years of Healthcare Administration and Customer Service experience Fountain Health was delighted to have Renee join the practice in early 2020.  Renee always puts the patient first and prioritises supporting her physicians to provide the best care.  She has an affection for Seniors and enjoys helping to coordinate complex cases.  She is solutions orientated with a flexible approach to any challenge that comes her way.  

 

Outside of work, Renee loves to read James Patterson novels and she enjoys watching old sitcoms and spending time with family

Leslie Medeiros 

Medical Receptionist

Leslie completed her Nursing Assistant qualification from the Bermuda College in 2011.  She worked in this capacity at the Bermuda Hospitals Board until she joined Fountain Health in 2018.  In 2017, she had completed the Medical Assistant course at the college which supported her move to administrative support.  Leslie's compassion for seniors and those with chronic diseases means that she is always a listening ear and she understands the challenges that can be experienced in coordinating care with multiple conditions and providers.  

 

Leslie loves spending time with her two daughters and extended family.  She plans to expand her skill set and is currently looking into phlebotomy training.
